CHRIST TOOK OUR SINS

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 2:21

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole." Galatians 3:13

When Christ hung on that cross for you and me, the agony he went through was much more than physical pain. Christ experienced the full destructive impact of sin when he cried out "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46).

Yet, thank God, this is only part of the story, for Christ became our sin so that we might become right with God. Here we glimpse at the mystery of godliness (1 Timothy 3:16).

For while it is true that 'an actual and dreadful separation took place between the Father and the Son' yet, contrary to what is sometimes presumed about this event, God was not 'taking it out on Christ'. Rather, God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself (2 Corinthians 5:19).

To put all this in plain language - God came to meet us in our separation and disobedience and did what only He could do. He crossed the barrier of sin and brought us back into relationship and fellowship with Himself.

This teaches us several important truths about: the gravity of sin; the depth of God's love; and the immense power of God's grace.

May God grant you a deeper revelation of this truth so that you might forever live in the confidence of your salvation and the protection of His grace.
